Why We're Walking
Meet Jerry & LeeAnn Kipp
Jerry Kipp is the Vice President for the YHS Board of Directors and is currently in the lead as Top Fundraiser for the 2014 Walk for the Animals.
Jerry and his wife, LeeAnn, are walking to honor all the pets they've
had along the way and they’ve agreed to share some of their tips and
successes with you!
Jerry, why are you walking in the Walk for the Animals?
The reward for us is the chance to promote YHS
activities and our outstanding record of being among the top 1 or 2
Shelters in the country. Our no kill ethic has now been recognized by
other Shelters who have asked us for help so they can emulate our
success. Considering the results we have achieved in terms of live
release rates, it's very gratifying to spread the message of our no-kill
ethic around the world.
What's your favorite part about the Walk?
The fun stuff at the Walk is meeting other animal
owners and their animals. It's gratifying to have so many folks attend
and contribute to YHS.
Do you have a creative way to encourage your friends and family to join the team or donate?
When we solicit donations, we point out the live
release rate and how other YHS programs help the community. Our 2nd
Chance program, although fairly new, is a fantastic way to deal with
animal care for folks who might not otherwise be able to provide medical
care for their pets. Our veteran program is also a great way to help
our vets to adopt and care for animals.
What is the best tip you can give new walkers or donors this year to copy your success?
Our best tip for fund raising is to point to YHS
successes. We try to point out that donations are a major source of
revenue that we need to maintain YHS functions. As a Board member, I
feel the responsibility to make sure the community is aware of YHS
activities, our performance and the need to solicit donations to keep
YHS up and running.
Special thanks to Jerry and LeeAnn Kipp for the fantastic advice!
