Yavapai Humane Society Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic reaches 15,000 spay/neuter surgeries

June 4, 2014 - The Yavapai Humane Society Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic is celebrating a milestone – reaching its 15,000th spay/neuter surgery since opening its doors in September 2009.  These services have led to the prevention of hundreds of thousands of unwanted animals born without homes.

The Yavapai Humane Society’s long hoped for goal to provide low cost spay/neuter services to the pets of people in our community was achieved with the launch of the YHS Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic in September 2009.  Led by veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Redmon, the clinic has made great strides toward reducing the number of unwanted litters in our community.

“Each pet we sterilize is part of the solution to animal overpopulation,” says Dr. Redmon. “Every client who gets their pets spayed or neutered can consider themselves heroes who are truly saving an incalculable number of lives.”

Since opening its doors, central and western Yavapai County has seen a 40% decline in the number of stray and/or lost animals rescued each year by YHS and a 93% decline in number of unwanted pets killed each year.  The YHS Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic performs on average 30 surgeries a day or an estimated 4,500 surgeries annually (three days per week).

The Yavapai Humane Society Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic provides spay/neuter and wellness services as a public service to the community.  Dog, cat, kitten and puppy spay/neuter services range from $42 to $100 depending on weight, age and type of pet.  Learn more at www.yavapaihumane.org/clinic or call (928) 771-0547 to schedule your pets spay or neuter surgery today.
