Part 1 of 2: 10 Ways to Appreciate Your Dog*
#1 Practice Preventative Care: We know, they might not see a trip to the vet as an act of care, but you're giving it to them because you love and cherish them.#2 Get on Their Level: Give them a break from looking up and get down on their level for some cuddle time.
#3 Bring on the Treats: Show how much you appreciate good behavior with a treat. Remember not to overdo it--treats can be high in calories. Try a low-calorie item like baby carrots.
#4 Feed Them the Good Stuff: Prepare an extra special meal to show your appreciation. Prepare a nutritionally-sound meal of lean protein and veggies.
#5 Bribe Them with Toys: This is an obvious one...gifts are always a good way to show appreciation. You can go big with a comfy new bed, or get little reminders of your love like toys, ropes, or bones.
#6 Bond over Good Behavior: Dogs love to please their parents! Help them learn how and bond over regular obedience training.
#7 Schedule some Cuddle Time: Be intentional about snuggles so they know they're appreciated. They often come to you looking for a pet or some lap time--take the initiative this week to let them know your appreciation.
#8 Make Doggy Day Trips to the Park: An exciting car ride, exploring new territory, and making new friends! What a delightful doggy treat!
#9 Don't Skimp on the Games: Take some time to do an activity they love, and put your heart into fetch, tug-of-war, jogging, etc. They can tell when you'd rather be doing something else.
#10 Always Greet them with Energy: Does your dog always run to the door to greet you when you get home? Give the excitement back with giving lots of petting and ear scratches so they know you missed them too.
