If you were at this year’s 3rd annual Walk for the Animals, it is an event you are likely never to forget. While the day will go down infamously in YHS history for its gale-force winds, punishing hail, and bone-chilling rain, our shelter’s life-saving programs were incredibly supported by our community to the tune of over $50,000.While the weather was not on our side, pet lovers clearly were. This year saw a 19% increase in donations raised to benefit YHS and the care it provides for animals in need in this community, up from $42,000 in 2013. All funds raised will help support the many lifesaving programs of the Yavapai Humane Society (YHS). Entertainment will include The Magic 99.1 Strut Your Mutt Contest at 12:30p.m. on Sunday so all our talented mutts can finally strut their stuff. If you haven’t already registered for this contest you can still do so on Sunday for just $5. This is your pooch’s chance to be a contender in any of three categories, click here for more information. The YHS goal is to adopt 40 pets during this weekend event so if you are looking for the perfect pet, there will be adoptable animals at Petsmart on both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. just for you. Again YHS thanks all our 2014 Walk for the Animals participants, volunteers, vendors and sponsors; you are the true heroes ensuring our community’s status remains the safest in the nation for pets. |
